Kelly Clarkson highlights gay marriage in new video for single “Tie It Up”
The pop singer has gone country for this one.
Kelly Clarkson - Tie It Up
Kelly Clarkson’s gone country – countrified weddings with twangy guitars and banjos, that is.
The 31-year-old pop/rock star has released a video for her latest single, “Tie It Up.” The video takes place in an old barn with her closest friends and fans. It also shows real-life clips and footage of an array of everyday people getting hitched and celebrating — mostly straight couples, but several gay couples are also featured. (Clarkson has been a public supporter of gay marriage.)
Although Clarkson isn’t a rookie when it comes to country music -- she has collaborated with musicians like Reba McEntire, Vince Gill and Jason Aldean -- this is the pop star’s first true solo country single.
Clarkson belts out the lyrics, “Let’s set the date. Let’s hire a band. Let’s cut the cake. Tie up the cans,” in "Tie It Up," which she debuted at the 2013 Country Music Awards Festival.
With a rumored wedding date of October 22, Clarkson may be tying the knot to her very own single. Check out the video above.
