Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock cancel wedding, will elope
They're opting for a more simple ceremony.
“Let’s set the date. Let’s hire the band. Let’s cut the cake. Tie up the cans.”
These are some of the lyrics to Kelly Clarkson’s latest single "Tie It Up," a song about getting married and preparing for the big day. Well, it may be that she just got too excited and couldn’t wait any longer or that she simply has too much on her plate, but our Texas girl has decided to scratch the huge event fit for Queen Kelly. She's going for something more simple.
The singer who is currently on tour with Maroon 5 is also working on a Christmas album titled Wrapped in Red to be released at the end of October. So you can imagine the amount of time she would have to work on a wedding: probably not a lot.
Clarkson had already sent Save the Date cards for her big bash in October with fiancé Brandon Blackstock, but the couple has decided to go the simpler route and elope. Their small ceremony includes just a minister and ring-bearers, who will be Brandon’s kids from an earlier marriage. I bet it will still be a beautiful event. And you know, at least we have the music video for "Tie it Up," in which we see a bunch of couples celebrate their wedding day and an ecstatic Kelly rejoicing with them.
In an interview with Ryan Seacrest, Clarkson says: “Our whole life is a celebration, we would rather have an intimate moment that’s special.”
Maybe Clarkson will release a sequel to the song and call it "Tie It Up NOW!" I can already hear it in my head… “Let’s scrap the date. Let’s fire the band. Let’s ditch the cake. Throw out the cans.”
Here’s an engagement photo that Kelly tweeted earlier this week…
