Bless our hearts: Texans cuss less than people in other states
We also say "please" more.
Texas has a reputation for being a state full of pleasant folk — our state motto is simply “friendship,” after all — and we apparently have come by that reputation honestly.
According to a study that’s making the rounds on the Internet this week, people in Texas curse less than almost every other state in the country. We came in at No. 4 on the “least likely to curse” list. Not only that, we’re also one of the most courteous states, being more likely to say “please” and “thank you” than other states. (Though we didn’t hit the top five there. Let’s try harder, please, shall we? Thank you.)
Which state curses the most? That would be Ohio. Well, to hell with you too, then, Buckeyes. Maryland, New Jersey, Louisiana and Illinois rounded out the top five.
The numbers come from a study earlier this year by Marchex, a mobile advertising data-analysis company.
