Listen: St. Vincent debuts single “Birth in Reverse” from new self-titled album
Look for the album February 25.
The new song from Lake Highlands’ own Annie Clark is quite the kick; matter of fact, it just might thaw the rest of your Icepocalypse. Its title is “Birth in Reverse,” and is the second song listed on her eponymous album that’s due February 25, according to her Monday morning heads-up. This will be Clark’s fourth record as St. Vincent, and her first since 2011′s Strange Mercy and last year’s collaboration with Talking Head David Byrne.
And here’s the deal: You can either pre-order the album now on iTunes and get the song as a download. Or you can just listen to it below. Or … you can just go to Clark’s website, where it’s all yours as a free download, along with the striking album art and the track listing, if you’re willing to sign up for her mailing list. And, let’s face it, if you’re reading this, you are. Or if you have ears, you should be.
As David Byrne told The Dallas Morning News last month, when Clark received Smithsonian‘s American Ingenuity Award in the performing arts, “Her choices are sometimes so unexpected and unpredictable that I was often caught off guard, which is a good thing. It kept me on my toes, and it may be a clue that she’s a real artist who will continue to broaden our concepts of music.”
St. Vincent will be playing at House of Blues in Dallas on March 14.
