Mattito’s Oak Lawn is now open
The new two-story space is just what the neighborhood needs.
OAK LAWN If you’re planning a date with Bob Armstrong, make sure you have his new address.
That’s because the Uptown location of Matitto’s Tex-Mex has relocated to the Centrum building where you can start every meal with our all-time favorite ground beef, guacamole and sour cream-spiked chile con queso dip named after a real-life politician.
The new two-story space is just what the neighborhood needs. Featuring a giant wrap-around patio up front and outdoor courtyard seating to come, it’s going to be the place to grab an al fresco margarita or six. (Just not today. Brrrr.)
Happy hour is a great time to be here, too. Every Monday to Friday from 3-6 p.m., house margaritas are $3.99 and draft beer is just $2. Plus, if you park it in the bar, there are free appetizers, too.
For those whose lives don’t revolve solely around cocktails and free food, you can’t go wrong with the light fajitas, one of the real standouts on the menu. Made without oil, these healthier-than-heck strips of chicken or beef come served atop a giant bed of roasted broccoli and cauliflower, plus a side of black beans, guacamole and sour cream.
After all, if you’re good and clean your sizzling skillet, you can have another margarita for dessert.
Make it skinny, and treat yourself to two.
