5 must-see films for this weekend
We recommend a quadruple feature.
Saeed Adyani/Roadside Attractions
A buddy comedy with Christopher Walken, Alan Arkin, and Al Pacino is what we'd call a safe bet.
Some films are just better viewed on the big screen, and this weekend's openings offer a diverse selection for every taste. You're in luck whether you wonder what Twilight would be like if it were a quirky rom-com with a (non-sparkling) zombie lover, find yourself intrigued by Dustin Hoffman's directorial debut, or just really want to see Jason Statham's chiseled jaw under a cowboy hat. Heck, grab an extra-large box of Raisenettes and check out all five.
Stand Up Guys -- Al Pacino, Christopher Walken, and Alan Arkin star in Stand Up Guys, a buddy comedy about a trio of wise guys coming out of retirement for one last roll of the dice.
Warm Bodies -- In this romantic comedy, half of the central couple happens to be a zombie.
Quartet -- This musical drama starring British acting legends is a light step for first-time director Dustin Hoffman.
Parker -- Jason Statham steals this entertaining heist-and-payback movie by amply filling the shoes of the taciturn anti-hero.
West of Memphis -- This magnificent documentary takes us behind the scenes of exoneration efforts on behalf of three teens imprisoned for a murder they didn’t commit.
