— Funeral services are set for Jessica Aguilar, the 33-year-old mother who Rockwall police said was fatally shot by her ex-boyfriend after leaving a movie theater at The Harbor entertainment district.

Aguilar’s funeral is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Garland.

Former Hunt County constable Anthony Dewayne Lewis is accused of fatally shooting Aguilar and wounding her boyfriend Francisco Delacruz on February 16. Lewis led police in a three-county chase and was wounded when he pointed a gun at officers.

Lewis faces murder and attempted murder charges and remains hospitalized in serious condition, authorities said Wednesday. Police also said that Lewis could remain in the hospital for at least a month.

Delacruz also remains hospitalized but does not have life-threatening wounds, Rockwall police said Wednesday.

Tuesday night, dozens of people, including police officers and Rockwall Mayor David Sweet, gathered next to The Harbor for a candlelight vigil in memory of Jessica Aguilar.

“I never believed my sister would be a person involved in something like this — ever,” Santos Aguilar said at the vigil. “She’s very strong. Her friends knew her; they called her a pit bull. She didn’t take nothin’ from nobody.”
