New reality dating show Ready for Love will feature Dallas’ Ben Patton

His sister said Dallas women are just into his bank account.

Dallasite Ben Patton joins Ready for Love

— Look out, Sean Lowe. You’re not the only hunky former football star from North Texas to grace TV screens in 2013. A new reality series starting next month on NBC, Ready for Love, will star Ben Patton, a 31-year-old businessman and entrepreneur who lives in Dallas.

The show features three eligible bachelors and three professional matchmakers who are scouring the nation for potential mates. It’s “a romantic journey that will combine in-studio competition and reality show elements,” according to the show’s website.

Patton, the son of two doctors, spent part of his youth in Cairo, and played football at Denton’s Ryan High School. He went on to study (and play football) in the Ivy League, at the University of Pennsylvania. According to his bio, Patton has worked for Bear Stearns in New York and Ross Perot’s private equity firm, Hillwood Capital; started a marine freight company with his brother (which they’ve since sold); and was involved in the development of Victory Park. Currently, he’s the CEO of Integrity Transitional Hospital in Denton. (Raise your hand if you feel like a huge failure after reading that bio.)

After all that success, he says in the above video, “When you start to approach 30, you start to focus on what’s really important. And what’s really important is having somebody in your life.”

On the video, his sister, Joelle, says something very interesting about why going the reality-TV route is a good move for Ben in his search for the right person.

“I think that it’s good that you take your dating life maybe outside of the normal circle that you usually try to find women in,” she tells him, “because being in Dallas now, I kind of see how some of them, they’re in it for the wrong reasons. And I want you to find someone who is genuinely there for you, and not for your status.”

Women of Dallas, you have officially been accused of having even worse motives than reality-TV love hunters. Get. It. Together.

But I digress. Ready for Love, produced by Eva Longoria and hosted by Giuliana and Bill Rancic, will debut Sunday, March 31, at 7 p.m.
