UPDATE: NorthPark Valley View will host American Idol premiere screening
At least Keith Urban will add some needed eye candy.
FOX
Will divas Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj be able to handle it if Aussie dreamboat and new judge, Keith Urban, receives too much attention?
DALLAS After a disappointing season of The X Factor, I am definitely ready for some American Idol. My high hopes for the second season of FOX’s other singing competition were slowly crushed by Khloe Kardashian’s robotic stare, among other factors you can read about here. I could start a new X Factor rant at any given second but I won’t put you through that since it is last year’s news and I have decided to let it go (at least until they announce the fixes being made to the show for its third season).
Most of what we have heard about the new season of American Idol has to do with diva Mariah Carey and diva/rapper/professional potty-mouth Nicki Minaj’s alleged kerfuffle. Yes, these two huge personalities will join Randy Jackson at the judges’ table, replacing previous divas Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez. Also joining the judges table is Aussie hunk Keith Urban, who I believe may be the breath of fresh air this season. Fingers crossed. At least he will provide some needed eye candy.
But enough of that, we want to see people sing and be awesome at it. Yes, having good judges is great but I believe we have seen what happens when the focus is on the judges (Remember Melanie Amaro and Javier Colón?) and when the focus is on the contestants (Kelly Clarkson? Carrie Underwood?).
American Idol premieres on January 16 and 17
American Idol returns with a special two-night premiere airing Wednesday, January 16 (7 p.m. Central) and Thursday, January 17 (7 p.m. Central) on FOX. But you can catch the show’s premiere episode on Wednesday, January 9 at select theaters. Immediately following, Idol host Ryan Seacrest and judges Mariah Carey, Randy Jackson, Nicki Minaj, and Keith Urban will participate in a nationwide, interactive Q-and-A originating from Los Angeles and being sent via satellite to 11 participating cities, as well as being streamed on americanidol.com and livestream.com.
In Dallas, the event is located at AMC Valley View 16 and begins at 6 p.m., with the LIVE Q-and-A starting at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m.
[UPDATE: The American Idol screening has been moved from AMC NorthPark to AMC Valley View 16.]
Fans who want to attend the screening can go to idolrsvp.com to RSVP and for more information.
