6 boutiques infiltrating Hi Line Drive in the Design District in 2013

DALLAS — Watch out Slocum and Dragon, another Design District street is making a name for itself in the Dallas Design District. Hi Line Drive is the Design District’s hippest new address, and I can prove it. Last year The Bernadette Schaeffler Collection, 1400 Hi Line Apartments, and much-buzzed-about restaurant FT33 opened their doors, joining a prestigious line up of showrooms that already call Hi Line home. 2013 is primed to bring a burst of new energy to the avenue with numerous new openings on this high design drive. Here’s a sneak peek of what to come this year.

Waterworks

Waterworks showroom is moving to the Design District from Preston Center.

This stylish tile and bath showroom has packed up its Preston Center post and made a move to the Design District, setting up shop at the corner of Hi Line and Slocum Street. After Tuesday’s swanky grand opening party, I can report that the new Waterworks showroom is nothing short of stunning. It does a magnificent job of showing off its fixtures and fittings, tiles, and textiles. Even if you’re not in the market for a kitchen or bath makeover this year, it’s worth stopping by to see the showroom. It’s totally pin worthy.

Ornare

Say Olá to Ornare, who is bringing its coveted collection of closets, kitchens, baths, home, and office to the Dallas Design District this spring. Opening in February 2013 in Mody & Mody’s former space, Ornare hails from Brazil, where the brand is highly revered for its well designed, quality products. Dallas marks the company’s second showroom in the United States and eleventh worldwide.

Adriana Hoyos

Latin American design darling Adriana Hoyos is opening its third showroom at Decorative Center Dallas on Hi Line Drive this spring. Splitting the former Mody space with Ornare, the Adriana Hoyos showroom will feature a comprehensive offering of furnishings, including rugs, furniture, accessories, lighting, and more. Adriana Hoyos’ designs are quality sourced and quality produced in its own production plants in Latin America.

The design-centric company offers a compelling and unique “Design Your Own” (DYO) program, which is available to both the trade and end consumer. The DYO program allows you to customize the finishes and fabrics on your furnishings with less lead time than standard custom furnishings.

Jamieson Jewel Salon

After expending energy styling your home, it’s only fair to splurge on a little style for yourself. That’s where 1400 Hi Line’s new full-service salon, Jamieson Jewel, comes in. Brought to you by owner and master stylist David Forsyth, a 22-year Dallas styling veteran, it’s set to open in February 2013. The high-end salon will offer a full menu of services, including hair styling and color, massage therapy, botox fillers, permanent make up, mani/pedis, and even its own blow dry bar!

From my short conversation with the JJ crew, I can tell that this is going to be anything but your standard salon. They’re gearing up for fun, fabulous events and even threw out the possibility of hosting a speed dating soiree in the near future!

As I dished last month, the Design District is getting a grocery! Think mini Whole Foods or eatZi's, right here in our neighborhood. Opening in the spring of 2013, The Food Boutique will offer groceries, beer and wine, fresh pre-packaged foods, as well as a deli, coffee, and wine bar.

Central Standard

Restaurants America, the force behind Central Standard, has been busy in Dallas this year, adding Park Tavern at Park Lane and Mockingbird Taproom in Mockingbird Station to its Dallas portfolio that already includes Primebar in Uptown and Townhouse Kitchen + Bar at the Galleria. This year we’ll see yet another Restaurants America concept, this time in the Dallas Design District. Still no details when this dining destination will open in its 1400 Hi Line home, but I did find its Facebook page. They haven’t posted anything yet, but go ahead and like them now to get the inside scoop.
