Jessica Simpson to star in NBC comedy about her life
One of the people spearheading the project said he sees a "Lucille Ball quality" in her. Huh
You have to give props to Jessica Simpson for fighting hard to stay in the spotlight. It has been announced that Simpson will make the jump from reality TV to scripted TV for her next venture, a sitcom based on her life. In the yet-to-be-named sitcom developed for NBC, Simpson will be playing herself.
According to TV Guide, the network has given the greenlight for producers to shoot a “presentation.” This means that they will be filming enough footage for NBC to consider ordering a show for next season, but not a full pilot episode.
Her previous TV shows include Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, which helped make her a household name, and Fashion Star, which returns for season 2 in March.
Ben Silverman, who recruited Simpson for Fashion Star and is involved on the new sitcom, says he sees a Lucille Ball quality in Simpson and was eager to figure out a way to build a comedy around her.
