Dirk Nowitzki leaves Mavs — for space launch as a bobble head
The real Dirk said that space travel is over his head.
Dirk Nowitzki Bobble Head Travels to Near Space
The Dallas Mavericks’ awesome video team is at it again. This time, they attempted to send a Dirk Nowitzki bobble head into space, with a weather balloon, a little parachute, and several cameras.
Apparently, he didn’t quite make it to outer space, but he was way, way up there in the atmosphere — nearly 18 miles.
The team also posted a behind-the-scenes video, so you can see how the whole thing came together, including the balloon popping and Dirk plummeting back to Earth. I think it’s even cooler than the original video. Dirk was launched in Cleburne and landed 34.87 miles away, roughly in the Stephenville-Hico area.
According to reporter Brad Townsend, the team will auction off the Dirk in Space bobble head for charity.
