— Most of us need no reason to celebrate pie, particularly the sumptuous creations from Norma's Cafe, but if you're one of the four out there still holding strong to those New Year's weight loss resolutions, now is the time to cave. Wednesday, January 23, is National Pie Day, and Norma's is offering up free slices of any of their nationally recognized Mile-High Cream Pies, with two new recipes just added to the roster. Check out this full press release for more details, and be sure to get there early.

In celebration of National Pie Day, Norma’s Cafe, the original Dallas comfort food icon that has served Texas home cooking for more than 56 years, will unveil two new pie flavors to its award-winning menu – an Oreo® Mile-High Cream Pie and German chocolate pie. The new additions will be featured at both of its Dallas locations on Wednesday, Jan. 23. To help celebrate National Pie Day, all guests who come to Norma’s Cafe on Jan. 23 will receive a free slice of any one of the nationally famed Mile-High Cream Pies.

“Norma’s Cafe is always creating ways to give back to our community, and what a sweeter gift than creating two brand new pies to our menu that our loyal guests can try for free,” said Ed Murph, owner of Norma’s Cafe. “National Pie Day is one of our busiest days of the year, so I encourage guests to arrive early. After all, life is short…eat dessert first.”

These two new pies were created for the fourth annual celebration of National Pie Day. The Oreo Mile-High Cream Pie comes with Norma’s Cafe’s flaky crust, chocolate and Oreo filling, topped with meringue mixed with Oreos. The German chocolate pie has the same crust and is prepared with German chocolate, coconut and pecan flavors.

Both Norma’s Cafe locations will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., and will offer one free slice of Mile-High Cream Pie for every customer throughout the day. No purchase necessary. Slices of pie will be available while supplies last and available for dine in guests only.
