Dallas-area contestant Alex finally gets screen time on Biggest Loser
Her hard work pays off.
The latest season of NBC’s weight-loss reality series, The Biggest Loser, includes a young contestant from Carrollton. But up until Monday night’s episode, 24-year-old Alex Reid had been virtually invisible.
Alex, who is a member of trainer Bob Harper’s blue team, finally got a little screen time this week when she had a bit of a breakdown. She expressed frustration about working hard and not seeing the same results as other contestants, and walked out of the gym -- something the trainers hate.
“I’m just over it,” she tells Bob. (Another thing the trainers hate.) He basically tells her to suck it up and to work even harder.
“I keep expecting a great number from her every single week, and it just does not happen,” Bob says before the weigh-in.
Whether it was his tough love, or something else, everything clicked at last for Alex. She lost 10 pounds, the most (percentage-wise) of any contestant, making her the the “biggest loser” of the week.
“Finally,” she says tearfully, while still on the scale. “My best was finally good enough.”
In other happenings this episode, contestant Gina becomes the first this season to get to “one-derland” — meaning, in the magical, 100-something-pound territory — dropping nine pounds and hitting 197.
And lone-ranger contestant Danni, all by herself on Jillian Michaels’ black team, won the challenge and lost enough weight to avoid elimination. Trainer Dolvett Quince’s red team lost the weigh-in, and mom-of-four Lisa was sent home.
