Caleb Moore, the 25-year-old snowmobiler from Krum who was critically injured in a crash at the Winter X Games in Aspen last week, has died, according to multiple sources. Family spokeswoman Chelsea Lawson has released a statement, available here, which says that Moore “will be truly missed and never forgotten” and that “the family wishes to express their deep gratitude for all the prayers and support they have received from all the fans, friends and family around the world that Caleb has inspired.”
The family will offer no further comment, for now, on the accident that resulted in a concussion and, eventually, bleeding around Moore’s heart, which resulted in surgery. But his grandfather, Charles Moore, did tell the Associated Press only yesterday that “the prognosis is not good at all. It’s almost certain he’s not going to make it.”
According to this morning’s statement, which also appears on Caleb’s brother Colten’s Facebook page, “Arrangements for a celebration of life are being made and an announcement will be made in the coming days.”
Just a few days ago, a website had been set up to help raise money to help the family with medical bills. So far $26,313 has been raised.
