Bartender Jason Kosmas, who stirred up plenty of Dallas cocktail menus, moved to Austin
Hope he left enough inspiration behind to keep this cocktail revolution going.
In a move that's "glad for [Jason] Kosmas, sad for Dallas," Dallas Morning News blogger Kim Pierce reports that the mixologist and bartender will be leaving Big D for Austin.
Kosmas' latest venture is The 86 Co., a spirits line, but he was behind the bar (and behind bar menus) at plenty of well-known restaurants around town: He'd recently put together the cocktail menu for the as-yet-opened Boxwood Tap and Grill, which will replace TABC at State and Allen in Uptown Dallas. He also helped pick a list of craft cocktails for Bowlounge, the city's newest bowling alley, in the Design District.
He posted to Facebook on Monday, July 1 that he would be moving to Austin. "For the last 4 years I have made North Texas my home," he wrote, in part. "I have been embraced and am grateful to have been a part of a rapidly growing restaurant community. I am moving south to Austin for both work and family now. It is bittersweet. I feel so fortunate to have been able to watch the city change and play some small role in it. I will still be in Dallas often and will continue to work with those who want to bring great drinks to their audiences. [...]"
