SausageFest in Dallas: Wurst idea ever?
There are so many places we could take this.
DOWNTOWN DALLAS This is just the wurst: 105.3 The Fan announced they will be hosting SausageFest on Saturday, August 10 at Main Street Garden in downtown Dallas. SausageFest is a day-long event in the summer dedicated to hot dogs. Well: "pork sausage, beef sausage, smoked sausage, boiled sausage, spicy sausage, sausage on a stick, sausage on a bun." You're gettin' it, yes?
"It's about celebrating things men-like," said Kevin Thornburg, director of integrated marketing and events for CBS Radio. "We wanted to do something loose and fun."
Women are "absolutely" invited, he said. There will also be a Miss SausageFest pageant, though it will feature members from a modeling agency, who will wear bikinis for the contest.
Expect a wiener dog costume contest, and games called toss the sausage and sausage bobbing. All of The Fan's on-air hosts will be out there for this outing that's frankly meant to make people feel like they're revisiting college, Thurnburg said.
The BratHaus and Holmes Smokehouse will sell sausage, with more to be announced soon.
Bands include The Mullet Boyz, a "party band," according to their Facebook, and A.Dd+, a hip-hop duo from Dallas. Event organizers are still solidifying what brand of beer or wine will be for sale on-site, but Thornburg is certain there will be alcohol.
The festival runs from 4-10 p.m. August 10 and is for 21 and up only.
