Wet Zone Water Park keeps it cool with events all summer
Flicks, mutts, and sno-cones round out the summer at Rowlett's water park.
ROWLETT There's a whole lot of heat-defying fun happening at the Rowlett Wet Zone.
Visitors can settle into their chairs and floats and take in the animated feature, Dr. Seuss' The Lorax, during the Flick 'N' Float on Friday, August 2. The film is free with general admission or $6 after 7 p.m. Hot dog meals are sold for $3 after 7:30 p.m., and the movie will begin around 8:30 p.m.
The last Season Pass Day for the year is from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, August 5.
"It's a time that we set aside to show our appreciation for our season pass holders," said Brian Norton, Wet Zone general manager. "It allows them to bring a friend with them for free."
An Angel Swim is scheduled for 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, giving special-needs individuals and their families a couple of hours to enjoy the park by themselves.
"We usually have between 60 to 80 people that attend our Angel Swim events," Norton said.
Other events on the calendar are:
- From 1 to 4 p.m. on Friday, August 16, kids are invited to test skill and wits in contests for the chance to win new school supplies during the Back to School Splash Bash.
- The park will open early the next day for the Season Pass Appreciation Party, when season pass holders get to enjoy an exclusive swim from 9 to 11 a.m. Children will receive complimentary sno-cones.
- And though the "dog days" of summer will have ended a week before, there will be one last bark in the park with the Wet Zone's "Pooch Plunge." On Sunday, August 18, the pool closes to humans at 3 p.m. and opens for canines at 4 p.m.
- "[Owners] need to bring their records of their dogs' vaccination," Norton said. "The cost is $5 per dog, and all the humans get in free."
The Wet Zone is at 5304 Main St. in Rowlett. General admission is $8.50 for Rowlett residents and $10.50 for non-residents. For information on classes, events, and more, call 972-412-6266 or visit wetzonewaterpark.com.
