Firefighter Joseph F. Pustejovsky Jr. left behind a wife and four children.
ROCKWALL A special event to raise funds for the wife and four children of fallen 29-year-old Town of West firefighter Joseph F. Pustejovsky Jr., who lost his life in the recent fertilizer plant explosion, has been scheduled June 15 at midday by a Rockwall teacher who was a good friend of his.
According to reading specialist Katieann Fox, “Joey’s Day – Honor A Fallen Hero and a Wonderful Father” will be from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the new Christy Cafe Five at The Harbor in Rockwall. The event will include music by Dillon Chevalier, a silent auction and special presentation in honor of Joey and his family.
“Joey was known and loved by all as a man of true honor, character, heroism, love, and sacrifice for others, always serving others before himself,” said Fox.
All proceeds will benefit his wife, Kelly Pustejovsky, and their children, Parker, Beau, Kayley and Ashley. For those unable to attend but who would like to donate, Fox said to donate to the Children’s Education Fund at Pointwest Bank of West by calling 254-826-3640.
At the time of his death, April 17, he served as the City Secretary of West, since 2009, and as the West Fire Department Treasurer.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2305, and the Monsignor George 4th Degree Assembly 2391, West ACTS Men’s Community, West ACTS core, where he served as Treasurer, County Line Aggie Club and the National Rifle Association.
He was also a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of the Assumption, where he was the founder of the Youth Ministry and director of the Catholic Brothers and Sisters United Youth Ministry for two years, gift bearer and CCE teacher.
