In April, Dirk Nowitzki confirmed that he was going to have a baby this summer. Although the little bundle of joy has yet to arrive, Nowitzki now knows he’s going to have a girl.

"In about four weeks, I will be a first-time father,” Nowitzki told Hit Radio FFH. “It’s a girl."

Nowitzki and his Swedish wife, Jessica Olson, have not settled on a name, but the Mavericks’ big man says they are down to three.

With his daughter due in July, Nowitzki says her birth will come at a perfect time.

"I am pleased that our daughter is coming in the summer to the world - that is free of play time, so I can get up at night to take care of them,” he said. “It’s good timing.”
