UPDATED: Rapper Danny Brown to headline third annual Gorilla vs. Bear fest at Granada Theater
Four other bands join Brown for the show on August 23.
Gorilla vs. Bear, which operates out of Plano, posted a few of Brown’s videos and Soundcloud tracks with the promise the full lineup of artists would be revealed “soon.”
[UPDATE: Monday, the venue announced four other bands will join Brown at GvsB fest, rounding out a heavily electronic-focused lineup. The additions: Canadian duo Blue Hawaii, New York City's HAERTS, synth-pop princess Empress Of, and local duo Booty Fade.]
Danny Brown, an underground rapper whose trademark is his gapped yet charming smile, most recently performed locally in April when he opened for Baauer. GvsB fest precedes a run of festival shows for the artist, including performances at the Gatherings of the Juggalos and Pitchfork Music Festival.
GvsB aims to book new artists on the cusp of indie fame. Last year, Dallas’ DJ Sober and A.Dd+ opened for acts such as Glass Candy, Chromatics, and Twin Sister. The inaugural event in 2011 invited Shabazz Palaces, Pure X, and Preteen Zenith to the Lower Greenville stage.
Gorilla vs. Bear III takes place August 23. Tickets are on sale for $24.Follow @tineywristwatch
