Demi Lovato has experienced fame since she was a little girl singing along with a big, purple dinosaur. I still remember when I saw her as a teen in an episode of Prison Break, and then bam! Disney propelled her to become a teen superstar. Since then Lovato has been in the spotlight mainly because of her talents, but also because her struggles. Now the singer is opening up about a dramatic change to her family circle.

The X Factor judge revealed to WBLI Radio what it was like to discover the existence of a secret half-sister. Lovato said that she spoke to her sister for the first time over the summer. The newly discovered sister is in her 30s and they first talked when the singer turned 20.

On why her sister never contacted her, Demi explains: “I asked her, ‘Why haven’t you ever contacted me?’ She just said, ‘Well, because I never wanted you to think that I wanted anything from you. So I’ve just kind of been waiting to see if you wanted a relationship. I thought that was so incredible. So I actually have three sisters!”

Also on Demi news, Simon Cowell hinted that she will be back for the third season of The X Factor. In an interview with Ryan Seacrest, Cowell said: “Nothing is official but I liked having Demi on the show. She’s fun to work with … I think we’d be crazy not to have her back.” Yes, it would be crazy not to have her back. She wasn’t half bad as a judge, but needed help in mentoring her contestants. Can you believe Demi was paid about the same amount as Khloe Kardashian last season? Thankfully, Khloe is gone and just seen now as another of the many blunders in the history of the U.S. X Factor.
