5 defining moments of 1977, the last time all Texas teams missed the cut for March Madness
Well this is embarrassing.
Zero. Zilch. None.
That’s how many Texas men’s college basketball teams will be traveling to this year’s NCAA Championship tournament. It’s sad, really, considering that as recently as 2010, Texas tied a single-state record for having the most schools in the tournament at seven.
Oh how the mighty have fallen.
Considering that this phenomenon hasn’t happened since 1977, here are five events from 36 years ago that just might help you realize how rare (and incredibly, incredibly sad) this tournament absence is.
1. Jimmy Carter became president.
2. Apple, formed in 1976, celebrated its first year in business.
3. Tom Brady, Kanye West, and Shakira were all born.
4. Gas cost 66 cents per gallon.
5. Elvis Presley died.
