Sound issues make Dancing With the Stars results amusing
The joys of live television.
Which couple was first to hang up their Dancing With the Stars shoes?
That would be the injured Dorothy Hamill and partner Tristan MacManus, sadly. But not because they were in last place; Hamill was advised by her spinal surgeon to withdraw rather than make matters worse.
“It’s been a wonderful ride,” the iconic skater said as she held back tears. “I wish I could stay, but I can’t do justice to the commitment.”
Meanwhile, our “virgin Bachelor,” Dallas native Sean Lowe and partner Peta Murgatroyd were told they were safe in the first few minutes of tonight’s live broadcast.
Speaking of live TV, it’s fun when things go haywire. Since the audience was cheering so loudly, some of the couples couldn’t hear a word the hosts were saying. So we were treated to moments such as, “And the first couple safe tonight is … Ingo and Kym!”
Cut to Ingo and Kym, just standing there. No reaction whatsoever.
“Ingo and Kym!”
Still nothing. Just eagerness on their faces to know something.
“Ingo and Kym!”
Finally, they heard the news and reacted with the appropriate amount of glee.
But back to our local dancer: What else did we learn about Sean tonight?
“Growing up, I was never the guy who was tearing up the dance floor,” he said in a taped clip. “I was the guy that was kinda hanging out on the side, just nodding my head. I can’t get away with just nodding my head anymore. I’ve got to get out here and learn how to dance — how to be graceful and fluid and smooth. And that’s a challenge for me.”
Here’s video of their dance Monday night, in case you missed it:
