JEM Beverage Co. releases most Texan vodka flavor ever — grapefruit
It's the Texas state fruit. You didn't know?
CARROLLTON Texas pride extends well beyond the casual bumper sticker, T-shirt, tattoo, or fried food. As of this month, we can now show our pride by the glass.
Carrollton-based distillery JEM Beverage Company released a grapefruit flavored vodka called Western Son Ruby Red Grapefruit Texas Vodka. That’s a Texas-made ode to the Texas State Fruit by a Texas brand.
Sounds like a patriot must-have in the liquor cabinet. But is it any good?
“We really wanted to focus on the sweet aspects of the Ruby Red grapefruit,” said John Straits, co-owner of the eight-month-old distillery, in a press release. “That’s what it’s known for and we really want Texas to come through with this flavor.”
Ahh, yes, tastes like Texas! All that’s left to figure out is how this will revolutionize the Salty Dog in all its grapefruity goodness. Stay tuned; this is definitely grounds for investigation.
