Two North Texans — Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato — make Maxim’s Hot 100
My, how they've grown up.
I’m sure just about everybody — including many on the Maxim editorial team — would disagree with specific inclusions/placements on Maxim’s annual list of top 100 “sexiest women,” so I’m not going to waste your time talking about how much higher on the list Yvonne Strahovski and Emmy Rossum should be, or marvel at the fact that Ke$ha is on the list at all (but I will say that, for a joke entry, “Manti T’eo’s Fake Girlfriend” is pretty funny).
I also won’t talk about how dumb it is that Miley Cyrus said, in response to being No. 1 on the list, “It’s every woman’s fantasy to be told she’s No. 1 on Maxim’s Hot 100! So crazy!” (Because no woman ever fantasized about being president or anything.) I also won’t spend time ranting about how crazy, “hardcore punk,” short-haired Miley isn’t nearly as attractive as long-haired, good-role-model Miley of Disney yore. (I’m not much older than her, so that’s not creepy, right?)
Instead I’ll just congratulate the lovely Dallas-area women who made the list, including Grand Prairie’s own Selena Gomez in the lofty No. 2 spot. She just released her new music video, but if you want a broader look at her career you can check out our gallery that covers most of it. That picture of her on Barney and Friends may be a little creepy in this context, though.
Fellow former Disney star (and another Barney alumna) Demi Lovato, from Dallas, shows up at No. 26. She’ll be back on The X-Factor as a judge this season. Here’s a gallery of her career, including her time on Barney.
I’m only 24, but this “former Barney kids in Maxim” thing is making me feel old and freaking me out. Can you tell?
Fort Worth’s Leighton Meester, probably most well-known for her role on Gossip Girl, makes an appearance at No. 36. She was not on Barney. She is, however, pretty attractive.
Honorary Dallas citizen (hey, she stars on TNT’s Dallas, so we’ll claim her) Jordana Brewster is also on the list at No. 43. I imagine most single Dallas males would be perfectly fine with her sticking around town.
Did I miss any local connections? I got distracted while wishing Emilia Clarke was from here.
