David Byrne & St. Vincent kick off second leg of tour with free five-song EP
The EP consists of a previously unreleased song, some "energized remixes," live tracks, and covers, one of which was recorded last fall during a concert at SMU.
That St. Vincent-David Byrne show at McFarlin Auditorium last October still echoes; best show since forever, at least at the time, as the twosome performed most of their Love This Giant collaboration whilst also dipping into the Annie Clark and Talking Heads songbooks. The video above, posted overnight by the Lake Highlands High School grad, gives a taste of what you missed as the duo announce the second leg of their tour, which kicks off in New Jersey in June before wrapping up in Italy in September.
To mark their latest outing, the pair has posted a freebie EP consisting of a previously unreleased song, “a couple of energized remixes of some of the album tunes and two live tracks of the sort of more familiar material we do in the set,” says the heads-up on the website. That “more familiar material”? None other than St. Vincent’s “Marrow” and the Talking Heads’ “Road to Nowhere,” the latter of which was actually recorded at SMU.
The best part? Brass Tactics is being made available for free. All you gotta do is look down.
