Missing Flower Mound police officer found in Florida
San Antonio police had previously reported -- incorrectly -- that he was found in Lantana, Texas.
FLOWER MOUND Missing Flower Mound police sergeant Jeremy Varnell was located this morning in Lantana, Florida. He is in good condition and his family has been notified, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
Flower Mound Police Chief Andy Kancel will address the media about the Sgt. Varnell situation at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Flower Mound Police Department, 4150 Kirkpatrick Lane.
Varnell, 43, disappeared Sunday after running a marathon in San Antonio, police said.
His family filed a missing person's report on Monday after being unable to reach him. They last heard from him on Sunday evening, police said.
Varnell has been with the Flower Mound police department for 19 years.
"We are just very concerned for his well-being," Flower Mound police Capt. Wess Griffin said on Monday.
Griffin said the department sent two detectives to San Antonio to help police with the investigation, but added that there is no evidence of foul play.
"He's a super-loyal employee and a great guy," Griffin said.
