See Carmen opera for free Friday night at Klyde Warren Park
Bring your friends.
DALLAS The worst thing about opera? You can’t eat tacos and drink beer during the performance. Or sit on the ground with your legs in the air.
Until this Friday, that is.
That’s when the Dallas Opera simulcasts the opening night of Georges Bizet’s Carmen on the great lawn where you can bring your own blanket and picnic, or grab grub from one of the on-site food trucks, or to-go meals from the newly opened restaurant, Savor.
It’s all hosted by our favorite gay radio personality, Jagger, from 102.9 NOW. There will be costume and trivia contests, too, so dig out that frilly skirt and head to an oyster bar so you can make your own sustainable castanets.
It may take two to tango, but it takes hundreds to make an opera this much fun.
Carmen Simulcast at Klyde Warren Park, free: Friday, October 25
- 6:30 p.m. Jagger kicks off the evening
- 7:15 p.m. Carmen costume contest: Which Carmen are you?
- 8 p.m. Performance begins
