UPDATED: Del Frisco’s Grille now open in Sundance Square
It joins a slew of new developments in downtown Fort Worth.
FORT WORTH Dallas-Fort Worth's second Del Frisco's Grille opens today in Sundance Square. The more casual offshoot of Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House serves dinner items like a Southern fried chicken sandwich and green chili cheeseburger, plus fish and steak dishes. Brunch includes a red velvet Belgian waffle, a few variations of eggs benedict, and fried chicken & waffles.
The restaurant is in the brand-new Commerce Building in Sundance Square, which is one of many developments in the 35-block area of downtown Fort Worth. Del Frisco's Grille will be located on Third Street near Main Street. Also in the Commerce Building but on Fourth Street will be restaurateur Shannon Wynne's new restaurant, Bird Cafe, opening in December. Across the street from the entrance to Del Frisco's Grille is Flying Saucer.
The restaurant is two levels, with bars upstairs and down and a patio that overlooks the plaza. All together, the space is 12,500 square feet -- the biggest Del Frisco's Grille thus far. The brand also has restaurants in New York City, Atlanta, Houston, Phoenix and several other cities.
The burger-and-steaks place will serve lunch, brunch and dinner, and if it's anything like its Uptown Dallas sibling, it'll host young, pretty crowds for busy weekend brunches. The full bar includes shots on tap, cultivating an atmosphere that general manager Kenneth Davis called "downright fun" in a statement.
The Sundance Square restaurant will have a few special dishes: a pepper jack tamale appetizer served at lunch and dinner; a shredded smoked pork breakfast burrito during brunch and a prime chicken fried ribeye at dinner.
The executive chef is Russ Huey, who worked for P.F. Chang's for 12 years, most recently as executive chef at the restaurant on the Dallas North Tollway.
The opening of Del Frisco's Grille comes just a few days before a bash this weekend to show off the Sundance Square Plaza. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, event organizers are hosting free, live music and performances by artists and comedians outside. See a schedule of events here.
UPDATE: We just learned DFW's third Del Frisco's Grille will open at 1200 E. Southlake Boulevard in late December.
