DFW reality TV stars to perform in Dallas Arboretum series
It's all part of a celebratory series for the opening of the Children’s Adventure Garden.
DALLAS A single celebration isn’t enough for the Dallas Arboretum’s Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden, which officially opens on September 21. The arboretum is kicking off a series of events called The Year of the Children’s Garden, and it runs before and after the opening of the garden. Here’s the scoop on the first three events in the series.
Big Talent from Big D: This concert features party band Emerald City as well as local contestants from The Voice and American Idol, including Amber Carrington, Jason Castro, Stephanie Crews and Taylor Beckham. Actor and guitarist Sterling Knight, of Disney fame, will be on hand, too. Bring a picnic or buy treats at three food trucks. September 17 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Martin Rutchik Concert Stage and Lawn at the arboretum, 8525 Garland Road, Dallas. $30.
Music at the DeGolyer: The classical concert features teenage pianists Lewis Warren Jr. and Jordan Lee. September 18 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the library of the DeGolyer Estate at the arboretum. $55, $75 for a reception with light hors d’oeuvres and wine that starts at 6 p.m.
Into Space With Astronaut Tom Jones: Former NASA astronaut Tom D. Jones, a veteran of four space flights, will speak about his experiences. September 20 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at St. Mark’s Decherd Performance Hall, 10600 Preston Road, Dallas. $15-$25 adults, $5 students.
