Get a behind-the-scenes look at video game development at Gearbox Community Day
Jump into the action September 14 at Gilley's.
Plano-based Gearbox Software will be hosting one of its now-traditional Community Day events on Saturday, September 14. The developer, famous in part for its Borderlands games, will welcome local DFW fans to Gilley’s Dallas for a day of playing games with developers, attending Q-and-As, learning about how Gearbox games are developed and more. You can register online, though it sounds as if entry is still first-come, first-served, so they recommend showing up early.
After all that madness, there will be a charity event from 6 to 8 p.m. to benefit the Videogame History Museum, which will feature poker, a live auction, classic arcade games, tabletop games and art.
Those who can’t attend in person can catch a lot of the action in video form, via a livestream on TwitchTV. Watching this way will be free, though you can pay $19.99 for a “Digital Bonus Pack” that features HD streaming as well as SHiFT codes for Borderlands 2 items, entry into a closed beta for an unannounced Gearbox game and what I personally find most exciting: a free download of Homeworld HD and Homeworld Classic (when those games come out). Seems like a good deal. Local attendees get those bonuses for free, so that’s all the more reason to show up early.
To wrap it all up, there will be a party for fans 21 and older in South Side Ballroom that night.
Seems like a cool event for fans. Will you be going?
