Barbecue competition called Rib Rub Run & Roll returns to Rockwall October 5
Say that five times fast.
ROCKWALL The fifth annual Rib Rub Run & Roll barbecue competition on the Square in Old Downtown Rockwall means lots of food, music, a car show and fun all day long for the family October 5.
According to Rockwall Mainstreet Manager Bethany Golden, the day’s events will begin with 10K and 5K races at 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. at Dobbs Elementary School. Barbecue will be served from street cafes set up by several downtown restaurants from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. You can also expect live bands, a people’s choice chicken wing tasting at 11 a.m., and live barbecue judging at various times.
New this year is a classic and antique car show sponsored by T&T Color Supply and BBQ & Brews (beer tasting), sponsored by the Rockwall Old Town Shoppes.
The wing tasting, sponsored by Buffalo Wild Wings, offers five flavors for $5 per person.
The BBQ competition last year attracted more than 30 teams competing for prizes. The event is sanctioned by the International Barbecue Cookers Association.
Live bands performing on the Main Stage will include Water Sign, the Paul Harrington Band, Blues Driver and Justin Cash Band.
