Photos: Check out basketball player Jose Calderone’s new University Park mansion
Here in Dallas, drop a couple mil and you get 6,320 square feet, five bedrooms, five and a half baths in University Park.
UNIVERSITY PARK Jose Calderone, the Dallas Mavericks' new point guard, came to Dallas from Detroit, and I would just love to be a fly on the wall when he and his wife, Ana Hurtado, talk about Dallas real estate. Here is how I think it might have gone the very first time they looked:
“Can you believe these homes? Oh my God, they are so much larger and newer than what we left behind in Detroit,” I imagine Jose might say.
“I am in love with the closets,” I imagine Ana Hurtado would say. “I want Dallas closets wherever we live, wherever. Promise me now.”
“I promise,” I imagine Jose says back.
“Also, there are not as many homes here under water,” Ana might say.
“I know. In Dallas, they all have pools!”
So it comes as no surprise that the Calderones picked up a beauty at 3417 Villanova for $2,350,000 on an asking price of $2,550,000. They closed August 16. See, he’s used to that Detroit market. Here in Dallas, drop a couple mil and you get 6,320 square feet, five bedrooms, five and a half baths, three living areas plus media room, on a quarter acre lot in can’t-beat-it University Park. The home was built in 1999 and is across the street from a beautiful park. The style is Santa Barbara smooth and sleek. Of course, he was brought in by Jamie Adams at Briggs Freeman while Patricia Weiner at Dave Perry-Miller was the listing agent for this beauty. Welcome to Dallas, Jose and family — if your action on the court is anything like your real estate buying finesse, we’ve got a great year ahead for the Mavs!
Oh, Villanova has no pool. I’m telling you, it takes awhile to shake Mo-Town off in your rear-view mirror …
