Deep Ellum shop debuts grilled cheese doughnut sandwich
Grab one at Glazed Donut Works between 10:30 p.m. and 2 a.m.
DEEP ELLUM Deep Ellum night owls are in for a treat this weekend when buzzy artisan doughnut shop Glazed Donut Works begins selling late night. Owner Darren Cameron confirmed Glazed will be open Fridays and Saturdays from 10:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. The shop will close early if it runs out of stock.
Among the anticipated eats is a drool-worthy grilled cheese doughnut sandwich for $3.50: “Our regular glazed donut [is] sliced in half, the inside of the donut browned on a buttered griddle, a slice of mild cheddar in between,” Cameron said in an email.
And, yes, you can add bacon for an extra $1.50.
Like its morning menu, Glazed’s late night menu will rotate a variety of experimental confections. This weekend, expect Maple Bacon Bars, Donut Bread Pudding and select doughnuts in addition to the grilled cheese. Cameron is perfecting his recipes for beignets and a “donut French toast concoction” for fall. Hot coffee and cold brew will be available late night as well, he said.
In other heavenly doughnut news, the Glazed Donut Works pink short bus will be rolling around North Texas in the next month. The bus will serve at food truck rallies and private events throughout the holidays, he said.
For now, however, you’ll have to grab the grub in Deep Ellum — before they sell out.
