Rubber Duck Regatta returns to The Harbor in Rockwall for a second year
The even raises money for Rockwall Boys & Girls Club and Meals on Wheels.
Last year, event organizers said a gross of about $40,000 was raised for both non-profits from all the events. This year they say they hope to raise $100,000 for the same organizations.
Duck Fest 2013 will begin at 3 p.m. Friday with arts, crafts, vendors and food. Live music at the amphitheater begins at 7:30 p.m., followed by fireworks.
Saturday the Duck Dash begins at 7 a.m. The Fest reopens at 10 a.m., when Corporate Duck Beauty Pageant entries will be on display until 12 p.m., followed by the Corporate Duck Race at 1 p.m. and Baby Duck Race at 3 p.m.
According to the event website, 10-inch corporate ducks cost $100 each to race. Baby ducks can be purchased for $5 each online or at The Harbor before the Regatta.
Event organizers plan to race 3,000 of the baby rubber ducks from the fountain in front of Cinemark to the lake.
