Dallas will soon have Fifty Shades of Grey wine
Yes, there exists such a thing.
As if the Fifty Shades of Grey fan base couldn’t get more fevered: Now they can get drunk.
The book that captured the world’s attention and can more than likely be found on your mother-in-law’s nightstand has now inspired a pair of wines that author E.L. James helped craft herself.
The two varieties, Red Satin and White Silk, carry the tagline “You Are Mine.”
According to Jasper Russo, the director of wine marketing at Sigel’s Beverages, the wines are at least 30 days from being on Texas store shelves, as they still need label approval from the TABC.
Considering his career, Russo is no stranger to pop-culture infused wine and thinks that this new batch from Fifty Shades is for “social media conscious hipsters.”
“We tend not to judge consumer for the choices they make. As a retailer, it all boils down to what’s in the bottle, which is why we taste most of our wines blind.” Russo said. “Catchy marketing will get you a first buy, but only quality and value will generate repeat business.”
Russo’s actually a fan of some of the market’s more celebrity-driven items, he even calls Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s wine made by the Perrin family of Ch Beaucastel “very good.” However, one wine he simply can’t get behind is this Hitler-inspired line from Italy.
