Dallas rapper, Bachelor and Cowboys player join Food Network show
It premieres January 6, 2014.
We're already coming up on the third season of Rachael Vs. Guy Celebrity Cook-Off on Food Network. If the first two seasons got past you, there's a reason to tun into numero tres: Of the eight celebrity contestants, three are from Dallas.
Stop, collaborate and listen, Vanilla Ice is on a returning television (show): The former rapper and current host of The Vanilla Ice Project on DYI Network will show off his skillz during the Food Network cooking competition. He's busy on the big screen, as he's got another DIY Network show called Vanilla Ice Goes Amish that premiered October 12.
Joining him is Jake Pavelka, a Dallas pilot who was on The Bachelor in 2010. Pavelka's still un-married (the proposal in 2010 didn't work out with then-fiancee Vienna Girardi) and Pavelka has since been on Bachelor Pad and Dancing with the Stars.
And then there's Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker, who played for the Dallas Cowboys in the late '80s and late '90s.
Other non-local contestants on Rachael Vs. Guy Celebrity Cook-Off are:
- Comedienne Judy Gold
- Former Carol Brady on The Brady Bunch, Florence Henderson
- Las Vegas magician Penn Jillette
- Former cast member on Saturday Night Live Chris Kattan
- Singer Tiffany
The celebrities will be split into two teams -- Team Rachael and Team Guy -- and compete in weekly challenges. One person is sent home per week in the six-episode season that premieres January 6, 2014 on Food Network. The winner receives $50,000 to the charity of his or her choice.
The first cook-off challenges celebrities to prepare a Medieval feast in 90 minutes, according to a press release.
Winners in the past two seasons were La Bamba actor Lou Diamond Phillips; and actor and spouse to Tori Spelling, Dean McDermott.
