Ohmygoodness, there’s an app to locate Girl Scout cookies
If you're an urbanite like me, finding Girl Scout cookies can be difficult. Kids don't live in my building. They definitely don't come door to door selling cookies.
And me want cookie.
Now there's an app for that. Girl Scout Cookie Locator is made by The Kellogg Company, according to iTunes, and it allows iPhone and Android users to find cookies in Denton, Dallas, Rockwall and Collin counties.
(There's also a Girl Scouts sanctioned app called Girl Scout Cookie Finder. It begins with a sweet video, and throughout, explains what girls are learning by selling cookies. It lists cookie finders for every county in the country -- including Tarrant County, which the former app does not. But if you're in the Dallas area and you want cookie, we recommend Girl Scout Cookie Locator.)
To download the cookie locator from Kellogg, easiest way is to dial **GSCOOKIES on your phone, aka, **472665437. You'll get a text with a link to download. You can also find it by searching the app store. It isn't a brand-new app, but it's new to me.
The Favorites tab gives calorie information -- but not until you've clicked the cookie of choice and then selected "nutrition facts." Out of sight, out of mind if you don't want to know. The Fun tab tells you your cookie personality. My favorite are Tagalongs, and apparently that means I'm "artistic, creative and dramatic." I like Samoas' horoscope better, though: "brainy, complex and mysterious." Under the same tab, you'll find recipes like a Thin Mint brownies (whoa) or Tagalongs milkshake (whoa whoa whoa).
Should you need GS cookies, like, now, the app offers a sign up to get alerts via phone or email when there's a Girl Scout cookie booth sale in your area.
Cookies are for sale January 10 through February 17, and new this near, Girl Scouts will not need to take orders and deliver cookies at a later date. They will sell cookies in-hand from the beginning. Boxes cost $4.
Virtual hug to The Advocate for spotting the Cookie Locator first.
