Friday Night Tykes premieres Tuesday, featuring itty bitty football players
Best coach's quote: "I could care less if they cry!"
Esquire Network, the joint cable-venture from Esquire magazine and NBC Universal that took over the now-defunct Style Network, is turning their cameras to the pee-wee football field in a 10-part docuseries centered around the ruthless world of Texas youth football. The show, fittingly called Friday Night Tykes, follows five San Antonio teams from the Texas Youth Football Association (TYFA) as they endure the ups-and-downs of the 2013 football season.
Like most reality-programs centered around adolescents, the show has a strong focus on the Tykes’ parents and is reported to feature enough Texas-sized personalities to be on par with other reality programs like Toddlers and Tiaras and Dance Moms.
Friday Night Tykes premieres on the Esquire Network January 14 at 8 p.m. with two back-to-back episodes. Don’t know what channel Esquire is on your television? Find out here.
