Video: Red Raider proposes to Longhorn with dramatic movie trailer
Spoiler alert: They overcome their rivalry and live happily ever after.
ADDISON Note: Like the groom-to-be, I graduated from Texas Tech and am thus biased toward any Red Raider content.
College sports rivalries can be a crazy thing. Even though I had good friends at several other Big 12 schools (including schools that aren’t in the conference any more. We don’t miss you, A&M), all friendships seemed to drop when our respective teams played each other. Football fans can be ruthless.
Which is why it’s such a big deal (well, OK, if we exaggerate everything big time) that a Texas Tech fan would fall in love with a University of Texas fan, even after Tech humiliated (Destroyed? Belittled? Crushed? Put in place?) the Longhorns with Michael Crabtree’s legendary catch in 2008.
To propose to UT alumna Amanda Roberts, Tech alumnus Justin Snasel worked with friends to create this fake movie trailer that recounts how the two met and fell in love, complete with over-the-top demands from friends that, “You can’t date a Longhorn/Red Raider!” It’s super cheesy, totally over-dramatic, but also pretty sweet.
You can read more of the story and Roberts’ reaction at Alcalde.
