Six chefs from DFW are headed to Austin Food and Wine Fest in April
Tickets go on sale today.
Tickets go on sale today -- at 10 a.m. January 21 -- for the Austin Food & Wine Festival, and the lineup includes several notable Dallas and Fort Worth chefs. The three-day event takes place April 25, 26 and 27 in downtown Austin.
In addition to the usual cooking demonstrations and wine and cocktail tastings, there's a new addition called Feast Under the Stars. That's where our local talent comes in, at an outdoor dinner on April 24 not included in the festival ticket price. Feast Under the Stars features food from Dallas chef Kent Rathbun (Abacus) and Fort Worth chef Tim Love (Lonesome Dove Western Bistro, Woodshed Smokehouse, Queenie's Steakhouse, Love Shack), plus Houston chef Chris Shepherd (Underbelly) and Austin pastry chef Jodi Elliott (Bribery). Tickets cost $185 each.
The Taste of Texas dinner on April 25 features food from 20 chefs, including Dallas' Omar Flores (Driftwood and Casa Rubia); Matt McCallister (FT33); and André Natera (Village Kitchen and Toko V). The dinner and wine tasting ends with music from Escort, a disco orchestra from Brooklyn.
The Rock Your Taco celebrity chef showdown on April 26 is a competition between 15 chefs, including North Texas' Love and Rathbun. They and others will attempt to unseat reigning chef-champion from Austin Tyson Cole (Uchi and Uchiko).
Tickets cost $250 to $850. Attendees must be 21 years old.
