Dodgers pitcher (and Highland Park guy) Clayton Kershaw will be on New Girl
The acting is ... meh.
Clayton Kershaw has a cameo in New Girl
Highland Park resident Clayton Kershaw is trying his hand at something other than pitching for the Los Angeles Dodgers: acting. He’s got a cameo appearance in an upcoming episode of the Fox comedy New Girl, which will air after the Super Bowl on Sunday.
Kershaw, 25, is the ace lefty for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Earlier this month, he signed the biggest contract for a pitcher in baseball history, a seven-year, $215 million deal.
Though if this clip is the extent of his screen time in the episode, then it’s the most boring kind of sitcom cameo out there. Spoilers: It’s the classic, “Hi, I’m this famous person you might have heard of” line followed by the, “Yeah, OK,” reaction. Clever comedy! Doesn’t feel at all forced! Do famous people really introduce themselves that way? “Hi, I’m Will Smith. I’m an actor. You may have seen me in the hit blockbuster After Earth.”
I actually really like New Girl, though, so of course I’m going to watch it whether the cameo is dumb or not. Besides, I have to figure out what the heck is going on. I mean, the description for the clip says, “A distraught Jess rebuffs Los Angeles Dodger Clayton Kershaw’s in the middle of a mansion party thrown by Prince.” I know I’m a couple episodes behind, but … What? Prince? I … What?
To Hulu I go, I guess.
