Despite a town hall meeting held on August 14th to discuss the issue—wherein 3/4s of citizens spoke against the resolution—the council voted to retain its previous ruling.

Council members cite nonexistent money concerns and "embracing America" as their rationale, while one Spanish-speaking city official considers resigning. All this and a little apple pie, too.

Says one petitioner: "I feel the council's choice did not represent the people of this city."
