The Wilmer city council meeting of August 6 was conducted efficiently and quickly.

Of the three public hearings scheduled, only the New Subdivision Ordinance generated any public comment.

The meeting will be held at the Wilmer Community Center at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 22.
December 5, 2008-
The Wilmer City Council instituted a new format for regular meetings where citizen comments can be made for the record.
November 25, 2008-
Mayor Jeff Steele in a letter to City employees promised a new and consistent city administration process eliminating the stresses and worries of employees for their jobs when new City Councils are seated.
November 24, 2008-
Steele will serve as mayor until the next election.

Surprisingly, former Mayor and current Ellis County Resident Don Hudson showed up to attend the proceedings as a member of the audience.

Evidently the city council has more important things to do than to fill vacant positions within the governing body.

The meeting was fairly well attended by the public despite the lack of parking due to the first night of Pioneer Days Celebration.

Hudson's official residence is now in Palmer, Texas, making him ineligible to stay on as mayor in Wilmer.

The council adopted the practice of voting by hand count instead of voice voting, eliminating any doubt of who voted for what or not (abstain).
