Eats has list of places in Dallas to get your burgers ground fresh

Because of recent NYTimes story about how horrid ground beef is.

From this day forward, it's veggie burgers, seriously.

Eats list. Ain't that long.

Teresa let me give you a hint that I hope you try. Ironic as it is the best veggie burger in Dallas is served by Houston's restaurant. They make the whole thing from scratch and you will find it very appetizing.

The patty consists of oats and brown rice. (It has no tofu) But if you are going to get the side order of fries eat them quick, cause when they get cold they leave a lot to be desired.

i don't mind tofu; i don't even mind MorningStar. the veg burgers i don't care for are the ones that use mashed black beans. in theory, that should be a smart idea because beans are so good nutritionally. but people never seem to get the consistency right. they're smeary when you want something with a firm texture

Or you could get the $25 meat grinder from Northern Tool and do it yourself the old fashioned way...also handy for unruly children and unwanted spouses.

What a perfect time to chat about veg burgers!!!!!

Houston's has a good veg burger and the bun lovely as well.

Another surprising good veg burger is at Grand Lux Cafe - mushroom-y and d-lish. Not a frozen processed heap of gluten gobs and soy protein isolates.

But then...every now and then, you need a veg burger and you are desperate - the Goldrush fills that void although I think it's a Morningstar Farms Griller, but tasty as heck and chock full of the above mentioned crap.

Even more desperate times call for the veg burger at Burger King.

Cafe Express had the black bean/plantain burger a long time ago. It was good after you doused it with guac and salsa, but a total mess. Still, I was sad to see it go even though I gained 10 lbs of air everytime I ate it.
