Jason Rice says:
Why have just one standard when two are better? Arlington ISD bans Obama kid speech - but is busing 5th graders to see George W. ramble on same topic.http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/politics/Kids-Didnt-Hear-Obama-But-Will-Be-Bussed-for-Bush-57827022.html

Wow! First term rookie mistake – The perceived most powerful man in the world not aligning himself with the actual most powerful man in the world, Jerry Jones.
Boggles the mind.
Ron Dempesmeier, says:
W overcame such hardship and poverty to become the 2nd most powerful man in the world (next to Cheney). I'd be proud of any child of Arlington who followed his example!

The article indicates that students which wished to attend off campus screenings of Obama's speech were excused to do so. Since this is exactly what is being done for the Bush speech the only controversy is over whether the buses were provided for both groups.
Travis Bush, says:
LOL Ron...W and his adversity stumble out of the family compound.
Jason Rice, says:
I just find the whole hubbub about an elected President giving a speech to be unequivocally insane.
david torres, says:
even I'M baffled at this one. People were afraid that Obama would "politicize" the kids' speech, thus the controversy. Don't know why "W" is different. What schools? are the schools in 'da hood being bussed? This might be a trap!!!
momzilla, says:
I agree relative to the insanity of objecting to the President of the US addressing school children. The country has gone freaking crazy.
However, this event at the Cowboys stadium is not comparable at all. It is a field trip to an event that has been planned for months and only relates to a limited number of children all of whom must have parental permission to attend.
But mostly, they aren't going primarily to hear Bush speak. If that was the deal, I doubt any of the kids would want to attend unless they had a test in another class to avoid. They are there to see the stadium, participate in planned activities and hopefully get autographs and hear some of their sports heroes, few of whom I'd imagine are conservative republicans.
It's really garbage like this (both sides) that are making our public schools worthless. The kids are caught in the middle of squabbling adults, the teachers and districts playing whack-a-mole with foolish controversies and vodka visions of "leadership" at the state and federal level that keep popping up.
david torres, says:
i don't think it matters WHO'S speaking .....they're getting out of school to go to the Cowboys stadium
...'NUFF SAID!
I still want to know WHAT SCHOOLS are going?

I am still puzzling over the hardship and poverty thing?? The Bush family has never been poor they were in bed with the Saudi oil group for years and made a fortune. The only hardship W had was getting over hangovers when he was in college. Where does this crap come from?????

bbryan44: I think your sarcasm detection meter might need a little calibration.
