Lake Lavon bridge project won’t happen

Sarah Blaskovich says:

The bridge was supposed to help traffic woes running from east to west over the lake. But the county judge said he wasn't convinced it was worth the money.

DMN has the story.

"This is the jewel of Collin County," said Andrea Reed. "You should be promoting it, not trying to destroy it."

Spoken like someone who has never, ever been on/in Lake Lavon. However,

Several opponents said officials could reduce traffic congestion near Lavon Lake by widening U.S. Highway 380, which crosses the lake near its northern tip, and State Highway 78, which skirts its eastern shore. They said those improvements would be cheaper and more effective than building another bridge across the lake.

Absolutely. How much of the $400M that was shot down would it take to expand 380?

Surprised more Plano/Wylie people weren't in an uproar about their tax dollars potentially going towards this. $400M so the thriving metropolis of Farmersville would connect directly to Wylie instead of taking 78 around the lake? Christ.

Yea!!! I get to keep my house!! If you move to the east side of the lake, you already know how you are going to get to the other side---go around or get a boat!!! quit trying to impose big city life on the country!! Move back to McKinney or Frisco if you want the "city life"!
