Downtown Dallas hi-rise had to evacuate for small kitchen fire

Teresa Gubbins says:

Dopey tenant left electric burner on and it created a bunch of smoke.

Several parties were going in so a "couple hundred" had to evacuate.

At the very nice Mercantile building.

I think ts a shame that the "powers that be" at the Mercantile were not aware or chose to look the other way as hundreds of partygoers infiltrated the resident building welcomed so graciously by the "security guard" on duty. The maximum capacity in the party roomis approx 50. I guess the other 150-200 guests who were invited via club and street flyers made no impression on the security guard at all. I wonder at what point he knew he screwed up? Before or after the fire alarms went off?

Keep in mind that we are talking about the same management that hands out one wrist band per resident for pool access. How did this get so out of control? Who will pay for the dozens of emergency crews that were there?
