Blacken Blues Theater believes urban hip-hop has infiltrated American theater with a new wave of artists. Like the jazz invasion of the music industry, this cultural explosion is causing excitement in the theater community. Blacken Blues Theater is a contemporary theater that focuses on issues that affect the daily lives of African-Americans. Trying to parallel art with the reality of living in urban America causes dialogue to be abrasive at times, but there is always Shakespeare for those easily offended.

The theater's missions is to share the rich culture of African-American life with the DFW community and to provide a forum for upcoming artists. By sharing cultural experiences with the broader community, the theater hopes to promote racial tolerance through education and understanding.
